Answering questions about my pro-bono consultation services

What is a changemaker?
A changemaker is anyone making another world possible: activists, those in movements, in organizations or governments, with lived expertise, creators, visionaries, conveners, connectors, and magnifiers for social good.
What does a pro-bono partnership look like?
Once selected, changemakers will receive free, custom communications consulting.
We’ll meet to discuss your needs, priorities, and strengths we can leverage. Then I’ll create a custom communications plan. I’ll work with you to implement a 3-month campaign, project, or initiative from the plan.
Depending on your goals, we might:
- Design a storytelling campaign
- Develop and test a messaging strategy
- Write a series of viewpoints for Substack or your website
- Build communications muscle on your team
What happens after I apply?
You’ll receive a confirmation email with an invitation to schedule a 45-minute intro call where we’ll discuss your goals and brainstorm. In March 2026, I’ll share whether you’ve been selected.
How are nominees selected?
I strive to award pro-bono partnerships as equitably as possible, so I use an equity-focused rubric to score nominees. Each nominee is scored based on: their proximity to impacted communities, whether their organization or effort is BIPOC-led, organizational budget, organizational size, and the level of need. I also factor in their desired timeline and my availability, and whether the project aligns with my strengths. I score nominees on all these dimensions using a 1-5 rating system and then I total each nominee’s score to make a determination. The majority of the data that goes into the ratings is provided either directly by the nominee through a questionnaire or gathered through an introductory call with the nominee.
